What is a good place to find the records of the Netherlands?
I am looking for census records and marriage, birth and most of the deaths in the Netherlands at the time. The site I was looking for covering only the United Kingdom, which is very good for my family but my husband's family in his father's side is Dutch for many generations, at one point joined a Charlemagne, but I was still far from that far back yet. Some of them are Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and only 2 or 3 generations lived Canada. Do not know yet if one of them went to the United States.
You will have a blast research in the Netherlands (well. .. as long as you do not have folders in Amsterdam). All records in the Netherlands were registered by Vital Statistics for hundreds of years. Everything has gone to the regional archives. With one exception (if it is clearly missing from Amsterdam) records are maintained in a database and fully available (And English, besides that!) Http://www.genlias.nl Once you find the city that the family was from, you can file documents raise regional issues related to land, wills, elections, etc. It's fun to be there and have a record to increase during 700 years. If the documents immigrant ancestor GenLI are not, then there is a book called "Dutch in America," which is very complete .. downward to places of origin. The reason is comprehensive records of America is that they have used the output from the ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, in place of the passenger lists of the remaining ports USA. The only thing that can cause some frustration is that the Netherlands have used many different borders than today. You will find many people whose nationality ca. 1800 was listed as "French" or "Spanish." Because they were of Brabant (south) and that the land has been owned by several Spanish, French, Dutch and Austrian, according to the year. People do not move, but without boundaries. As for the fall is that census records (in fact, maps of the family ") are not on the Internet. It kept on file. You must know the name of the father get the card for the family. But once they arrive, wow! The information is explosive in comparison with census data from the West. GenLI addition, these are two very useful sites: http://www.en.nationaalarchief.nl/ http://www.cbg.nl/

Concert for George $20.48 Exceptionally moving but not the least bit sentimental, Concert for George is a splendid tribute to the late George Harrison, whose contributions to the Beatles were so often hidden in the long shadows of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. A year to the day after Harrison’s November 29, 2001 death, Eric Clapton assembled some musicians–people who had played with Harrison and known him intimately, in… |
