Orange County Records Search
How long must employment records be kept in NY?
My wife is trying to get her employment records from Orange COunty (NY) Dept of finance where she worked in 1983. They claim they don’t have them. We feel they are being lazy and don;t want to look for them (she’s not on their computer search). We have SOcial Security records that show here total salary and the year, so we do nkow that she really did work there, but we need the actual days worked and rate of pay (for retirement purposes) and they’re being uncooperative … so how long are they leagally supposed to keep those records???
I don’t know. 100 years?
