Public documents that may contain Social Security numbers
Many people are interested in finding other people to safety issues social. Normally, Social Security numbers are drawn or truncated (Shortcut to display fewer digits) before the documents are open for access public.
Many states, like Indiana, have adopted progressive laws protect even against government use of Social Security numbers. However, for some years before the measures were tightened, many social security numbers appearing in the sex offense registry required sites and websites of universities, and result in identity theft related crimes and other unlawful uses of Social Security numbers.
The situation at one point became so serious turn many states including Arizona, Colorado, New York, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Washington and West Virginia, enacted special laws to prohibit public universities the use of submarines as student cards.
