Social Security Death Index

What is the best source of information?
I have three records that were reliable enough from the source to the days of my great-grandfather but everyone has a different date (but are all in 1890). I have a letter from his own funeral, the Social Security Death Index and a proposed World War I Registration Card. What is the most reliable?
Personally, I'd go for the registration card for the recruitment, and see if I can back it up with the 1910 census or 1900 which is normally the month and year of birth. reasoning .. people who sign up for Social Security often had no evidence in the record. Ex husbands grandmother used replacement documents when she reaches old age .. Due to the need for the money and had an old letter from his father wrote, and what a year .. if he could not go school. Project reasoning? Nobody wanted to go to war. They recorded their legal obligations when they had to. It is also the nearest registration real time, when he was born. (People born in the 1890s often can not have a birth certificate or certificates in hand .. delayed years 1930-1940)
