Tenant Background Checks

The best way to do credit checks on prospective tenants?
After winning a ruling in my favor against tenant non-payment, I can not wait, then garnish his wages expulsion (legally, of course). Now I have to find a replacement tenant. What I did before it was to credit, background and history. What information I usually need a candidate? Social Security number, perhaps? Tenant loans more to get the number otherwise a complete stranger? I wonder what their experiences have been. Thanks in advance!
